Willard "Butch" Walker

Mr. Willard Eugene "Butch" Walker, 72, of Cartersville, died peacefully, by his family's side at 9:30 a.m. on August 21, 2013.

Born October 21, 1940 in Rome, Georgia, he was a son of the late Willard Lee Walker and the late Georgia Mae Hix Walker. Butch was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he attended the Crosstalk Sunday School Class. He joined the United States Navy immediately following his graduation from Rome High School in 1958, serving in the airborne radar. An absolute lover of antique collecting and dealing, he was one of the most respected and loved gentlemen, with a circle of friends a mile wide.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa W. Walker; daughters, Leah Hobgood and her husband Jimmy, and Dana Walker and her husband Chris Howard, all of Cartersville; son, Brad "Butch" Walker and his wife Nora of Malibu, CA; sister, Judy Lundgren of Clemmons, NC; grandchildren, Sam Hobgood, Chloe Hobgood, James Walker, and Iggy Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with The Reverend Kirk Bozeman officiating. The family will receive friends at the church, immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Rocky Ridge Refuge, Post Office Box 105, Midway, AR 72651 or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 814 West Avenue, Cartersville, GA 30120 in memory of Butch.
