William Barfield

Mr. William Ernest Barfield age 69 of Atlanta passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Cartersville Medical Center. He was born February 27, 1947, the son of the late James H. Barfield and Ruth Holcomb Barfield.
Mr. Barfield served as a Mason at the Jonesboro Lodge #87 and Carl Boyd Post 42 American Legion. He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Marine Corps. William was born in Atlanta but at the age of 2 he moved to New Orleans where he grew up. He spent his adult life as a resident of Georgia. He also loved the outdoors, loved to fish and spent a lot of time on the Gulf of Mexico in St. George Island, Florida. William retired from Bellsouth after 30 years of service as a lineman.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mary Barfield; his son, Brian (Kendra) Barfield of Flowery Branch, Ga.; daughter, Carolyn (Derrick) Glaze of Acworth, Ga.; his grandchildren, Harrison Glaze, Colton Glaze, Dyllon Glaze, Mary Katherine Barfield; siblings, Grover (Pam) Barfield of Mt. Holly, N.C., Jim Barfield of Garden City, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private.
