William Holmes

August 10, 1942 — September 11, 2011

William �Harold� Holmes, 69, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends. Born August 10, 1942 he was the son of the late William David Holmes and the late Hazel Mulkey Holmes. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Amie Holmes.



Harold retired in 2008 from Mohawk Industries as a Plant Superintendent and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. He loved to play golf.



Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Matthews Holmes; his daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Robert Elrod, and Tara and Rodney Garrison; his grandchildren, Zachary and Tyler Elrod, and Karley and Grayson Garrison; his brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Carole Holmes; and his sister, Ann Ray; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Brother Richard Blalock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.



Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Matthews, Chris Matthews, Davis Jones, Jeff Blalock, Bobby Moon, Stephen Holmes, and Brian Holmes. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dale Hibbard, Alvin Adcock, James D. �Railroad� McConkey, George Roberson, Ronnie Howard, and Eli Cantrell. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 1:15 on Wednesday.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
