William Clarence �Billy� Stephens, III, 85, of Cartersville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Terrace at Woodstock, Georgia. Born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 4, 1926 he was the son of the late William Clarence Stephens, Jr. and the late Martha Louise Brown Stephens.
Billy grew up in Norwood, Alabama where he graduated from Phillips High School and attended Norwood Baptist Church. He later went on to serve his country as a Turrett Gunner in the Army Air Corps. He loved trains and had an extensive model collection. Billy was member of Cartersville First Baptist Church and was a good hearted person. He was also a tremendously huge Alabama football fan.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Evelyn �Billie� Maddox Stephens; his children and their spouses, Mickey and Nancy Stephens of Palm Harbor, Florida, Larry and Robin Stephens of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and JoAnne and Luke Livingston of Woodstock; his grandchildren, Brett and Jaime Stephens, Brian and Artemis Stephens, Chris Stephens, Brad Stephens, Mac and Lauriel Williams, Leanne Livingston, and Layne Livingston; his great grandchildren, Logan Stephens, Reagan Stephens, Isaiah Stephens, Noah Stephens, and Yianni Stephens; his sister, Betty Agnesia of Birmingham, Alabama; and his brother, Robert Stephens of Palm Harbor, Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, 430 Cassville Rd. Cartersville, GA 30120 with the Reverend Jerry Cantrell officiating and his granddaughter Leanne Livingston speaking. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. � 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
