William Johnston

Mr. William Robert "Bobby" Johnston, Jr., age 57, of 11 Eden Drive, Rome passed away on Monday, December 12, 2005.Mr. Johnston was born in Floyd County, GA on June 19, 1948, the son of Joyce Butler Johnston and the late William Robert Johnston, Sr. He attended Belmont Baptist Church. Mr. Johnston had managed Maxwell Furniture, was an owner/ operator of Johnston Furniture in Cartersville, and managed Jimmy Black Chevrolet, Alen-Smith Chevrolet in Summerville, Lawson Chevrolet in Chatsworth and Hardy Chevrolet in Gainesville. He loved horses, water skiing and was an automotive enthusiast. Mr. Johnston also loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father in July 2000, a sister, Kay Johnston in 2004 and by a brother, Donny Johnston in 1969.Survivors include his loving daughter and son in-law, Kim and Tommy Smith of Adairsville, GA; his mother, Joyce Butler Johnston; brother and sister in-law, David and Linda Johnston of Destin, Fl; life long friend, Jerald Sargent of Gainesville; nephew and nieces, Robby Johnston of Adairsville, Christy Tuck of Canton and Vicki Johnston of Rome; great niece, Lauren Bertel and great nephew, Gavin Tuck; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Many loving friends and co-workers also survive.Funeral services for Mr. Johnston will held at 2:00 pm, Saturday at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel this evening (Friday) from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. At other hours the family may be contacted at his mother's home, 11 Eden Drive, Rome.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 Saturday and include Bob Mobley, Jimmy Blackstock, Dale Martin, Clifford Cape, Tim Dudley, Ken Dudley, Sam Johnston and Gordon Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Edwards, Keldon Merc, J.J.
