William Powell

Mr. William "Melvin" Powell, 64, of Taylorsville, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his residence. A native of Bartow County, Melvin was born August 1, 1952 to the late William Clyde Powell and Doris Sutton Powell.

Melvin was employed as a truck driver for Brown Trucking before retirement. He loved the Lord and his family very much. He was a hard worker and enjoyed watching football in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Joan West.

Survivors include his wife, Judy West Powell; his children, Kimberly Howell (Munk), Kevin Powell, Rodney Powell, Delisa Vanhook and April Paddyfoot (Dane); ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Brenda Tilley (Lamar); along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Scott Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon - 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Vanhook, Dane Paddyfoot, Munk Howell, Justin Howell, Brian Tilley, Chris Jenkins and Kim Jenkins.
