Mr. William Rae �Bill� Richardson, Sr. age 84, of Rome, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 26, 2010.
Mr. Richardson was born on February 3, 1925, the son of the late Walter Richardson and Lynda Morgan Richardson. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from Georgia Kraft as an electrician. Mr. Richardson was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, a wonderful Paw Paw, and an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by a brother, John Richardson and a granddaughter, Michele Graves Buxton.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Harper Richardson of Rome; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rae and Debra Richardson of Prior Lake, MN and Tom Richardson of Douglasville, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Gary Graves of Rome; grandchildren, Gary Graves, Jr. and Tim and Becky Graves all of Cartersville; a special grandson, Jeremy Buxton of Lawrenceville, GA; great-grandchildren, Trey Graves, Meridith Graves, Shaylee Graves, Jack Graves, and Cooper Graves all of Cartersville; and a brother and two sisters-in-law, David and Norma Richardson of Gainesville, GA, and Rena Richardson of Atlanta, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Also, very special friends of the family are Doug and Sheryl Cooper and Jerry and Carol Winkle.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Graves and Rev. Wayne Clemons officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion conducting military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour in the Oaknoll Chapel.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel by 1:30 P.M. on Thursday: Rae Richardson, Tom Richardson, Gary Graves, Jr., Tim Graves, Trey Graves, David Richardson, Mark Richardson, and Eric Richardson.
