William N. Taylor (U.S. Navy � Retired), 78, of Calhoun died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Gordon Health and Rehab Center in Calhoun. Born December 27, 1930 in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Sen. Herbert Franklin Taylor and the late Lillian Alice Vestal Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Earline St. John Taylor.
William had retired from the U.S. Navy after twenty-six years of service which include service during Korea and Viet Nam. After retiring from the Navy, he served twenty years as a civil servant. William attended Christian Brothers University in Memphis, was a graduate of St. Thomas Military Academy, was a member of St. Michaels the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock, and was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Lori Taylor of Cartersville and Jeff Taylor of Kennesaw; and his granddaughter, Lillian Jane Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial with full military honors will follow in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 8 p.m. Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the American Parkinson�s Disease Association, 1365 Clifton Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30332.
