Mrs. Wynell Goss Barker, age 71, of 301 Bert Road, Rome, GA, has left this walk of life to meet her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Barker passed away on May 14, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Barker was born October 11, 1936, in Polk County, GA, daughter of the late Johnny Mariet Goss and Syble Patterson Goss. She has spent most of her life in the Rome area and worked many years at Burlington Mills in Shannon. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Louis Barker on September 5, 1995.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Louis Duane and Amanda Barker of Rome; two daughters and a son-in-law, Teresa and John Reid and Lisa Barker all of Rome; four brothers and sisters-in-law, John Henry and Bessie Goss of Covington, GA, Thomas "Bud" and Frances Goss of Adairsville, GA, George Russell "Buck" and Sharon Goss of Houston, TX, and Phillip "Buster" and Nancy Goss of Shannon, GA; four grandchildren, Todd Barker, Desiree Edwards, Nichole Reid all of Rome, and Miranda Smith of Kennesaw, GA; five great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters. Several nieces, nephews, and a very special friend, Jean Boggs also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 16, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Carney and Rev. Marvin Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Barker will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and at other hours may be contacted at 301 Bert Road, Rome, GA.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Friday by 10:30 A.M.: Justin Barker, Jason Barker, David Davis, Jackie Davis, David Barker, and Brandon Mitchell.
