Obituary for Benny Franklin Akers

Mr. Benny Franklin Akers, 60, of Cartersville, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 Born in Floyd County on September 11, 1954, he was the son of the late Benjamin Akers and Geneva Alford Akers.
Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Bishop and husband, Thomas and Stephanie Stapleton and husband, Mark; his grandchildren, Michaela, Samuel and Joseph; his brother, Joe Akers; his sister, Donna Gard; and his brother-in-law, Louis Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Ralph Shook officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, Virginia, 22311.
