Obituary for Johnny William Long

Mr. Johnny William Long, 70, of Rydal, died Friday, May 29, 2015 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. A native of Bartow County, born December 20, 1944, he was the son of the late Winell Long and the late Evelyn Roberson Long.
Mr. Long was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Rydal and was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a hard worker, enjoyed fishing and was very generous with all of his resources. Mr. Long was employed by Bo’s Pallets for 14 plus years and enjoyed driving his truck. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Long.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Juanita Sue Long of Rydal; his sons, Danny Long (Betty) of Menlo and Joseph Long of Rydal; his brothers, Terry Long of Rydal and Harvey Long (Deb) of Ellijay; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday , May 31, 2015 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with The Reverend Jody Horton and The Reverend Dewey Atchley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Long will be carried to the church on Sunday to lie-in-state from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Long, Josh Long, Chris Patterson, Matt Ward, Noah LaPorte and Gary Nichols.
