Obituary for Robert Lee Carnes

Mr. Robert Lee Carnes, Jr., 88, of Cartersville, widower of the late Peggy Siniard Carnes, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his residence.

Born December 3, 1926 in Cartersville, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Carnes, Sr., and the late Emmie Rogers Carnes. Mr. Carnes was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church and worked for Long Furniture Company for over 40 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, known by many for selling his produce. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Buford.

Survivors include his sons, Randy Carnes and Danny Carnes, both of Cartersville; and grandsons, Chris Carnes and Josh Carnes, also of Cartersville.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Joe McKaig officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, Georgia 30346 in memory of Mr. Carnes.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to his caregivers, Denise Hopson, Linda Phillips, Pearlie Carson, Freddie Patterson, Janice Wheeler, and Latasha Carson, for the wonderful care they provided Mr. Carnes during his illness; and also to the staff of Heartland Hospice.
