Obituary for Joseph Mitchell Prince

Joseph M. Prince, age 52, of Cartersville, GA, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014. Joe Prince was born on September 30, 1961, in Englewood, NJ, the eldest son of the late Theodore I. Prince and Bonita Polan Prince. He graduated from University of Toronto with a BSc. Then he went south to the University of
Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was awarded his MA and PhD in Anthropology. From there he moved to Cartersville, where he has resided since 1990.

Joe wrote and has been published on various economic and political topics. He was active in many scientific, charitable and civic organizations from the local level to worldwide. He has been the chair of the Bartow County Democratic Party for more than a decade, and served as the 11th Congressional District Representative for the GA Association of Democratic County Chairs.

Joe is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, M. Rebecca Carr, as well as five brothers and their wives: Hal and Linda; Craig and Sherry; Allen and Karoline; Brett and Marnie; and Terry. He is also survived by his niece, Amanda Prince and his aunt and uncle Ronnie and Phil Prager.

A memorial service will be held at Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care, 3734 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA 30341 at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 19.
